Phonak Hearing Aids

Phonak hearing aid manufacturers have used their 70-year foundation of knowledge, which they gained through their development of wireless communication, to drive the philosophy that “life is on.”

A long line of innovative accomplishments began with the first portable audio devices released under the Phonak Alpina brand name in 1950.

Visaton Super, a pair of glasses with an integrated hearing aid, was released in 1967, and the world’s first BTE (behind-the-ear) hearing aid (Phonette) was introduced three years later. Phonak introduced the audio input that established the foundation for FM devices in 1979.

Phonak Innovations Leading To Cutting-Edge Audio Solutions

Among Phonak’s innovations was PICS in 1992, which was the first digitally programmed hearing aid with an analog processor, which was closely followed by the AudioZoom multi-microphone concept in 1994. The first tiny FM receiver, MicroLink, was introduced by Phonak in 1996.

Phonak’s first digital hearing system with an FM receiver was released in 1999 followed by the tiny MLx ear-level FM receiver hearing system the next year. Since launching SmartLink (Bluetooth integration technology) in 2003, Phonak has pushed the envelope to develop bionic systems with the latest in digital technology for natural, effortless hearing.

Water-resistant housings released in 2008 made for greater wearer versatility. This technology coupled with nano-digital technology led to the development of Phonak’s extended wear product, Lyric, introduced in 2011.

Binaural VoiceStream Technology led to a better sound distinction in up to 45% of challenging noise environments. Phonak added other innovations, including integrated tinnitus management, advanced recharging capabilities, and improved streaming and connectivity.
