Siemens Hearing Aids

Werner von Siemens built telegraphic instruments in the late 19th century, but after developing an amplified telephone receiver in 1877, he became a pioneer in the design and production of hearing instruments.

The first BTE (behind-the-ear) instrument produced by Siemens was made available in 1959, while the company’s first (ITE) in-the-ear hearing aid came out in 1966.

Siemens became Sivantos in 2015, producing Signia hearing aids that used Siemens’ technology as well as manufacturing their own Siemens brand hearing aids. When the Sivantos Group merged with Widex to create WS Audiology in 2019, Siemens became a part of the world’s largest hearing aid manufacturing group.

Advanced Technology Solutions by Siemens

The Binax platform, a major Siemens innovation, has the capacity to simulate binaural hearing using an eight-microphone network (four per hearing aid) that connect wirelessly to share and balance audio data using e2e (ear to ear) technology.

Testing of the Binax concept was conducted by the University of Northern Colorado and the Hearing Center of the University of Oldenburg after its release. Both studies reported that Binax delivers sound that provides Siemens hearing instruments wearers with an advantage over those with normal hearing in a noisy environment.

Important Binax platform features designed to enhance the quality and clarity of your hearing experience include Narrow Directionality, Spatial Speech Focus, eWindScreen binaural, and High Definition Sound Resolution.
