Our goal at North Houston Hearing Solutions is to provide you with the information you need to make an informed decision about your hearing healthcare, and that includes hearing care insurance.
We know hearing loss can be a challenging experience, and it’s important to understand what treatment options are available to you.
That’s why we offer comprehensive hearing care assistance that covers a range of services and treatments, including hearing aids, hearing tests, and other hearing-related treatments.
We know that approximately 15% of American adults aged 18 and over report some trouble hearing, so we strive to be as accessible as possible to our North Houston community and beyond.
In this article, I’ll discuss the benefits of United hearing care insurance and how it can help you manage the costs associated with hearing loss.
United and Medicare Working Together
People enrolled in the Medicare program often find that basic Medicare plans do not cover hearing costs. However, you are eligible for coverage if you have a United Healthcare plan with certain riders or supplemental insurance.
Here’s what you can expect from a United Medicare Advantage plan:
- If you receive hearing aids from United Healthcare Hearing, you can get up to a $1,425 copay for each one (up to two per year). The amount of copayment depends on the style and features of the hearing aids. You need to have prior authorization for this.
- Fully covered yearly evaluation.
The following are very common in the state of Texas, and partnering with AARP through one of their Part C plans could make things a lot easier for many residents.
Advantage Plan 1 (HMO-POS)—A primary care provider visit does not require any copayment; however, there is a $35 copayment for a specialist visit.
Advantage Choice (PPO)—It is not necessary to pay any copay when visiting a primary care provider. However, a copay of $40 is required for visits to a specialist.
Advantage Patriot (HMO-PPO)—You do not need to pay a copayment to visit a primary care provider; however, a $35 copayment is required to see a specialist. There is no monthly premium to pay, and you do not need a referral to access care. Out-of-network coverage is available, and the maximum amount you will have to pay out of pocket for in-network care is $5,500.
Advantage Plan 2 (HMO)—No monthly premium needs to be paid, and no referral is necessary. Out-of-network coverage is available, and the in-network out-of-pocket maximum is $5,900. Copayment for a primary care provider is $5, and for a specialist it is $45.
Part C Plan Without AARP
Advantage Choice (Regional PPO)—In order to see a primary care provider, there is a $10 copayment required. To see a specialist, the copayment is $50. Additionally, there is a $49 monthly premium to pay. No referral is necessary, and out-of-network coverage is available. The combined in- and out-of-network out-of-pocket maximum is $7,500.
