I love Costco just as much as you, but can you trust your hearing health to the same place you buy milk?

Costco vs. North Houston Hearing Solutions – What’s The Difference?

by | Jan 27, 2023 | Hearing Aids, Industry News, Patient Resources, Technology

Hearing aids come in various shapes, sizes, and styles and can be customized to fit an individual’s needs. Prescription hearing aids and Costco hearing aids are two distinct types of hearing aids.

Prescription hearing aids are prescribed by an audiologist after evaluating a patient’s hearing loss and are custom-made to fit the patient’s ear and cater to their specific needs. These types of hearing aids tend to be more expensive but offer a higher level of performance and features.

Costco hearing aids, on the other hand, are widely available in stores and are often more affordable than prescription hearing aids. They provide basic features and cater to the needs of most individuals with hearing loss.

However, they may not offer the same level of performance as prescription hearing aids and may not be suitable for individuals with severe hearing loss.

There are many types of hearing aids, but prescription hearing aids and Costco hearing aids are two of the most popular options.

To understand the significant differences, let’s delve into more detail.

Top 10 Differences Between Costco Hearing Care and North Houston Hearing Solutions

1. Hearing Assessments

Before we begin, we administer a comprehensive hearing evaluation. This gives us all the information we need to match you with the right product. Costco does not require this, so finding one that satisfies your needs and is comfortable can be difficult.

2. Having Options

At Costco, you are limited to less advanced products. Many of these devices simply amplify sound and cannot reduce background noise or provide masking noise to treat tinnitus. We have access to all Costco products, plus many more powerful and advanced hearing aids.

3. Warranty

Costco offers a three-year warranty, which is the same as us. We also both provide two years of loss and damage warranty to ease the pressure of transitioning to wearing hearing aids full-time.

4. What's the Cost at Costco?

For anyone who owns a business that competes with Costco, you already know how low their prices are. If you don’t compete with them, then consider yourself lucky. It’s impossible to match them, but we can make up for it in many other ways.

5. Operational Hours

We are not open 24 hours, so if you prefer to treat your hearing in the middle of the night, then Costco is the place for you. However, if you can wait until 8 am, we can provide a service level that Costco could never match.

6. Virtual Appointments

For those who prefer not to come in or live too far away, we offer virtual appointments. With our system, we can conduct many appointments remotely to save you the hassle of physical attendance.

7. Payment Plan Options

Proper hearing care can get expensive over time, even at Costco. We understand that life can be unpredictable, and we don’t want to be a financial burden. That’s why we offer flexible payment plans to ensure you get the best hearing care that fits your budget. Costco requires full payment upfront.

8. Locally Owned and Operated

We have the advantage of being a locally owned and operated business. If you want to support small, local businesses, we’re the choice for you! We’ve been serving our community for over twenty years and have enjoyed every minute of it. There’s something special about getting to know your neighbors and working together to create a better community for all of us.

9. Mobile Options

We want to be as accessible as possible to our elderly peers, and due to our size, we can do this much more efficiently than Costco. If you can’t make it to our office and don’t want to utilize virtual servicing, our mobile audiologists can come to you! Check our schedule to see when we’ll be visiting your facility soon.

10. Consult with Professionals

The most crucial aspect when dealing with any medical issue is to enlist the help of a trained professional. While we respect everyone who works at Costco, they do not have the training or experience that we have dedicated our adult lives to. Don’t take any chances with something as important as your hearing, partner with a professional and dedicated audiologist to correct your hearing once and for all.
