At North Houston Hearing Solutions, we’re pleased to be the first hearing center in Houston to introduce Tele Audiology. Through this new service, our patients can schedule a remote appointment with one of our audiologists. During your virtual visit, we can advise you on any hearing concerns you may be having as well as offer ongoing support.
We can also adjust your hearing aids remotely with the ReSound Assist function in the ReSound Smart 3D app. Since using this app is unfamiliar to many of you, we wanted to provide a troubleshooting guide for the app.
General Tips for Success
First, we want to share the best practices to keep in mind. If you’re having problems with phone calls or wireless streaming, restarting your iPhone or Android phone usually resolves that. ReSound Smart 3D works best when you keep your smartphone software up to date. It’s also a good idea to restart your smartphone at least once a week. Before opening the ReSound app, close other apps. Also, turn your Bluetooth off and turn it on again.
Troubleshooting Problems with the ReSound App
We know it’s frustrating when you’re having trouble with the app itself. We suggest trying a simple solution like closing the app and opening it again. Another easy fix that often works is restarting your smartphone. If you’re still having trouble, we recommend trying one of these tips. You’ll want to see if it works before you try another one.
- In the ReSound app, click on the More tab. Turn on demo mode. Then turn demo mode off. Restart your device.
- To verify that permission for Bluetooth is on the app, go to Settings. Select Smart or Smart 3D (You may have to scroll to the bottom.) If Bluetooth is off, turn it on.
- Look at your ReSound app to see if it’s Smart or Smart 3D. Then, delete the app and download it again.
Steps to Connect or Reconnect Your iPhone with Your Hearing Aids
Let’s walk through the process. First, go to your iPhone’s Settings. Verify that Bluetooth is on. You’re still in Settings, but now go down and tap Accessibility. Then tap Hearing Devices. If you’re connecting your hearing aids for the first time, skip down to the next paragraph. For users who are reconnecting their hearing aids, press Your Name’s Hearing Aids. Then scroll down, and press Forget This Device.
Now, turn off your hearing aids. If they’re battery-operated, remove the battery. For rechargeable hearing aids, set them in the charger. Next, turn on your hearing aids. Return the battery to its compartment and close the door. Remove rechargeable hearing aids from the charger.
It can take a moment for Your Name’s Hearing Aids to appear, but please wait. Then, press: ‘Triple-click the Home button at any time to show hearing device options.’ Finally, you’ll see a request to pair. Press Pair once if you have one hearing aid. You must press Pair twice if you have two hearing aids.
If Your Android Phone Has Trouble with Phone Calls or Wireless Streaming
Frequently, a smooth action like restarting your Android phone will resolve these issues. Another possible solution is deleting the ReSound app and re-installing it. If the problem continues, you may need to reconnect your hearing aids to the app. There are two ways to do it.
Method One
- In the ReSound app, click the More tab.
- Turn Demo Mode on, then immediately turn it off.
- The app will look for your hearing aids. When it’s done, Found Hearing Aids will appear.
- Restart your hearing aids. Either remove and replace the battery or take the hearing aid off the charger and return it.
- Wait for pairing. Press Continue.
Method Two
- In the Resound app, click the More tab.
- Press “Pair New Hearing Aids.”
- The app will search for your hearing aids. When complete, you’ll see Found Hearing Aids.
- Restart your hearing aids. Either remove and replace the battery or take the hearing aid off the charger and return it.
- Wait for pairing. Press Continue.
