During November 2019, we decided to do something unique to help our community.
That’s because one of the biggest challenges of being a doctor of Audiology and running North Houston Solutions is that I have a strong desire to help people in our community that have challenges with their hearing.
It breaks my heart that there are so many people that are living with the weight of a hearing loss on their shoulders because they don’t have the financial means to care for their hearing or they prioritise their loved ones over themselves.
I wanted to do something about it.
That’s why we launched our ‘Hear for the Holidays’ giveaway.
During the month of November, we asked you to nominate a friend or loved one that you believe deserved the gift of complete hearing healthcare (including hearing aids).
We were overwhelmed by the response.
We had 45 entries, each sharing a powerful story, many of them had our team in tears.
When the nomination form closed at the end of November, we printed all of the entries and had to choose one person.
It was very difficult
After many hours and some sleepless nights, we narrowed our options down to 3 people.
But as we were still struggling to select one of them, we decided that instead of choosing one person, we would select all three of them.
We called all three to share the news and invite them for an appointment to have a comprehensive hearing assessment and receive our premium level of hearing care.
It was incredibly rewarding for our entire team.
Introducing The Three People Selected.
#1 – Diane M.
Diane’s Nomination:
“I’ve had the hearing aids before and had a lot of feed background noise on them, so I couldn’t wear them. I’ve wanted to get the newer ones but I can’t afford them now. I’m on limited income and my hearing is worse. I pray that I win these so I can hear again. Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas. And Lacy I remember you especially at this time of year, my prayers are with you and your family.”
What Diane Said After Being Fitted:

I pray that God will return your blessings 10 fold to you Dr. Brooks. I will be seeing you in the new year. Thank you again for being my angel.”
#2 – Tracie
Tracy’s Nomination:
“I would love to recommend Tracie for the hearing aids. Tracie is our daughters mother in law and she cannot hear well at all. When you talk to hear (if you didn’t know her) you would think she was rude not to answer or acknowledge you. She go
es to every (and I mean every) baseball game of her 2 grandsons. (They are 9 and 7, they are our grandsons too) That’s why this breaks our hearts, because she will stand and watch the game away from everyone because she cant hear people that might talk to her. Tracie is so very kind and genuine and loves to interact with the grandsons. Tracie is always there for her family ,,, sister, brother, cousins, Aunts etc, it would make a world of difference to be able to hear all of them. Her youngest grandson just turned 10 months and he giggles so much … I k
now she wants to hear him. Thank you for any consideration on choosing her for your hearing aids.”
What Tracy Said After Being Fitted:
“I would recommend everyone to come to North Houston Hearing Solutions. They are all so very nice here. When I came in I could not hear but a little bit. Now that I am leaving, I can hear the sound of me touching my jacket, the TV, people out side the office. It is amazing. I just don’t have words right now. Thank God and Dr. Lacey Brooks I can hear again. It is amazing I CAN HEAR!!! I love my new hearing aids!! Thank you again and again. I can’t thank Dr. Brooks enough. I absolutely love them. This has changed my life”
#3 – Priscilla
Priscilla’s Nomination (from her son):
“After my father passed away a few years ago my mom became legally blind due to macular degeneration. She loves to read books and had to resort to the library of Congress audio books to continue reading. However, her hearing is very bad as well and she struggles considerably. She also has a very hard time hearing conversation so she misses out on 90% of the conversations at family gatherings. She could truly use some quality help in this area. Thank you for considering her for this award. She cannot use email so I have provided my email instead. Thank you!”
It was so rewarding to gift these amazing people with better hearing through our ‘Hear for the Holiday’s giveaway.
Due to the success and impact that this made, we plan to run this again in November 2020.
