Professional Earwax Removal In North Houston & Surrounding Areas

If you or a loved one has been struggling with a blocked or clogged sensation in your ear(s) lately, it could be because you have earwax built up.

Earwax (or cerumen) is actually a very natural substance that works to protect your ears from unwelcome debris.

However, there is a downside to earwax, and that is usually when it builds up and over-accumulates. When this happens, some uncomfortable symptoms can follow, such as a temporary or a sudden hearing loss, a feeling of fullness in your ear, dizziness, headaches, balance issues, and ear pain.

There are quite a few causes of accumulated earwax, but, ironically, the most common reason is due to the very product a lot of people use to remove it – cotton swabs or Q-tips.

Using cotton swabs or Q-tips is NOT the answer to removing earwax. Q-tips push the earwax deeper into the canal, which leads to more build-up and blockage.

There are many misconceptions about the safe ways to remove earwax, but as a general rule of thumb, you should see a hearing professional, an Audiologist or ENT about it and not try to remove it on your own.

At North Houston Hearing Solutions, LLC, we’re very happy to have helped many people in Spring, North Houston and surrounding areas safely remove their earwax.

What Are The Most Common Myths Surrounding Earwax Removal?

Myth #1 – “I don’t need to do anything, as my ears will clean themselves”

We’re all guilty of relying on our bodies to do the hard work for us and naturally repair themselves from time to time, and it’s a very common myth to believe this is true when it comes to our ears naturally removing earwax, as it really is just that: a myth.

If your ears are blocked, sore or you cannot hear properly, then this is your body’s way of saying “help me!”, and, if left untreated, a build-up of earwax could lead to more problems down the line, such as ear infections and even permanent damage.

Myth #2 – “A cotton swab or Q-tip will do the trick!”

No, it really will not. In fact, it will almost always make it worse.

Cotton swabs/Q-tips are one of the leading reasons that many people experience a build-up of earwax or blockage, as it actually pushes the earwax way too deep into the ear canal, so what you think you are removing, you are actually making more of! Please don’t do this.

Myth #3 “I’m just someone who creates too much earwax”

There are very few cases where this is true. Your ear typically creates the right amount of wax to keep your ears free from dust and dirt, but, if you clean them too much, your body will make more and this is what can cause the blockage.

Myth #4 “I don’t need to see anyone. I can just watch a tutorial online”

Though it is true there are many tutorials on how to remove earwax yourself, almost all of them have not been created by professional hearing health care specialists, and they’re certainly not the safest (or smartest!) way to tackle your problem.

As a general rule of thumb, when it comes to your ears (and health in general), unless you have trained in the area; you should always consult a professional.

1. We’ll have a brief chat about your personal experience of earwax build-up

So we know exactly what you’ve been going through, this chat is essential for us to determine whether it’s just earwax buildup or perhaps something else, in which case, you’ll be in the perfect place to get help!

2. We’ll examine your ears

By using a professional video or traditional otoscope, we will take a look inside both of your ears and determine what is causing the blockage.

3. Let’s remove that earwax

To remove your earwax, we will use a state-of-the-art suction device that will suction out all of the wax from your ears. For tougher-to-reach blockages, we can also use a curette, which is a skinny, scoop-like tool that allows us to carefully remove the wax.

4. You’ll notice the difference immediately
