As a child, most people idolize the thought of being an air pilot or a Hollywood actress.

It’s not often people grow up wanting to be an audiologist or looking into ears for the rest of their lives, but for Dr. Crane, she was driven to hearing healthcare for another reason.

In a fast-paced industry that requires a breadth of knowledge and understanding, the most important trait can be simplified into three simple words – to help others.

Carrying a large portfolio of experience in large ENT practices, Dr. Kathryn Crane is a perfect example of everything an audiologist stands for, and we couldn’t be more grateful to have her on our team.

But first, why did she “fall into” audiology?

It’s In Her Blood

Coming from a long line of physicians and nurses in her family, it was only right that she entered the medical field at some point.

Dr. Crane’s decision to become an audiologist was her unique way of cementing her position in healthcare while reducing the anatomy and dissection classes.

She truly wanted to help people but wanted to make sure she was able to spend one-on-one time with patients.

Truly, she believes that audiology is a very unique field, where doctors get to spend a lot of quality time with patients. It’s not an in-and-out-the-room situation but more of a partnership created.

This works perfectly for Dr. Crane, as she wants to make sure each patient leaves with having all of their questions answered and feeling comfortable. Audiology allows her to do this.

Joining North Houston Hearing

Before joining North Houston Hearing Solutions, Dr. Crane was at a large practice in the Memorial area of Houston.

It was here where she spent much of her training and developed her own personal style, increasing her knowledge and experience along the way.

At this practice, she got the chance to work alongside some of the most experienced and recognized physicians in Houston, which has allowed her to effectively address her patients' concerns accurately and effectively.

This translated into her work at North Houston, where she gets to learn more about her patients, not necessarily just their hearing loss but more about their line of work and lifestyle.

It can be intimidating visiting a hearing healthcare clinic for the first time, but it’s important that the patients feel comfortable with their audiologist so they can open up about their struggles.

Dr. Crane loves welcoming patients and making them feel at home within our office.

She also loves a puzzle, as nothing makes her happier than successfully fine-tuning a unique listening environment for a patient.

First Impressions Make A Difference…

If you’ve never visited a clinic before, then you’re bound to feel a little apprehension beforehand – it’s only natural.

It can be difficult for patients to have an audiologist start working with them that they’ve never seen before. Luckily, as soon as Dr. Kathryn Crane walked into the clinic, she noticed how friendly and welcoming the whole team is and it only forebode the future successes she would celebrate at North Houston Hearing Solutions.

In many ways, it was different to anywhere she had worked before.

All of our patients know all of us, including the small things such as what we got up to at the weekend and our favorite food. The best part is that they generally care about what we are doing here.

Being a part of a small business in this community is already so rewarding, and she looks forward to “many more encounters in the future.”

What makes North Houston different to elsewhere is that the audiologists working here are truly experts in the field, and you can’t get much better than that.

Being at a large medical facility, sometimes the specialty of audiology gets lost.  But not in a local private practice! As you work with hearing aid patients and you see patterns of hearing loss, the diagnostic portion such as the testing, understanding, and the history actually makes a difference in how hearing aids are fitted.

One person may have an age-related hearing loss, whereas another may require surgery – they all need something different.

Dr. Crane takes all of this into consideration when fitting patients. It’s not just “Oh, here’s a hearing loss, here’s how you fit a hearing aid.” That’s what truly makes a difference.
